19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
